Survival of just oneself or more?
Aren't each of us the most important person of our lives?
Shouldn't we put on our own oxygen masks before helping others.

Selfish is good but what is the definition of self here?
When a biological cell thinks that the self is just itself instead of it's role in a larger organism - cancer happens.
What happens when an organism dies? The cells and even organs still live and can be transplanted.
What died is just the previous definition of self and every part gets a new definition of what is self.

Charity begins at home.
Self means loved ones, dependants, co-livers, family/friends - the inner circle.
Jus sanguinis.
How about the farmers, our colleagues, the soldiers, all the folks who make our lives better.
Jus soli. जननी जन्मभूमिश्च स्वर्गदापी गरेयसी |
But in a world where people are internationally mobile.
Ubi panis ibi patria.

Thinking of just this inner circle even if it is as big as an entire nation; can still lead to the tragedy of the commons ?
We don't want to end up in the Nash equilibrium of Prisoner's Dilemma.
ಮನುಜ ಮತ ವಿಶ್ವ ಪಥ

सह नाववतु |
सह नौ भुनक्तु |
सह वीर्यं करवावहै |
तेजस्विनावधीतमस्तु मा विद्विषावहै॥

But is trust and co-operation within the largest possible collective even possible.
When does the more the merrier stop being so?
When does whole is greater than the sum of the parts break.

What about zero sum games?
And won't no-competition sink us all into the abyss of incompetence?
A bit of healthy competition should help us all be the best that we can be.

Do we need to compete with each other, aren't there enough common enemies/problems bogging us all that we can conquer together.
Is it possible to change scenarios into win-win.

सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिनः
सर्वे सन्तु निरामयाः।
सर्वे भद्राणि पश्यन्तु मा कश्चिद्दुःखभाग्भवेत।

Is the world big enough for everyone's needs ?
Even if it is, aren't there 8 billion others to take of the world while my family depends on me?

ದುಡ್ಡೇ ದೊಡ್ಡಪ್ಪ.
Money solves all known problems ?
What is money?
And have we solved all the problems we know of?
Do we understand all truths that will help us survive well?
The world's richest person once said "I'm not limited by money but limited by capability of the world to produce the things I need".
Just a few centuries ago even emperors didn't have basic amenities like plumbing or the luxuries of being woken by Subbulakshmi's divine voice everyday.

सत्यमेव जयते then?
Victory not to our just inner circles but to truth itself.
So victory to us conditionally only if we are on the side of truth ?
धर्मो रक्षति रक्षितः
But truth protects everyone; not just the believers. And un-truth hurts everyone.
But nice guys finish last.
Folks who play by the rules will be at a disadvantage.

Too confusing? Easier to pick a person we respect and accept them as guru?
How do we pick the right guru?
Even if we did, can we lay our liberties at the feet of even a great man?
Even if we did, what about nuance?
